Visa Paperwork!

I got my Visa Paperwork yesterday! YAY!!!

I'll post a picture once I charge my camera. The documents are all official looking and mostly in Chinese...probably because they were issued by my host school in China. There's an official seal and everything :) I could actually UNDERSTAND a bunch of the characters so naturally I wanted to share this sense of self-pride by dancing around my uncle's house and showing off my limited translation skills. I'm so happy they put up with me.

I'm just glad that the paperwork wasn't delayed any longer. The only thing is that it has my permanent address on it, which is in NY. That means I'll probably have to go through the Chinese consulate in NYC and use a Visa service that will apply on my behalf because I don't have the time or the money to travel to NYC before I leave for China. And by the way...I LEAVE IN 40 DAYS!!!

Right now I just don't feel ready to leave...but I know that when the time comes I will be and I just have to have some faith in myself to get to that point.

Some very wise people named Dannielle and Kristin love to tell people who ask their advice: "No regrets. Just love." And that's what I'm going for because when I'm a 90 year old grandma I want to be able to look back on my life with no regrets because I wasn't afraid to take risks. Okay, maybe I'll have been afraid but I wouldn't have let that stop me in the end. I'll have found the courage to live across the world for 4 months at 19 just because I could. No regrets, just love, because I will have done things and loved places, things, and especially people even though to love is to risk being hurt. I will have chosen to always love my life and celebrate my moments.

But enough late night ramblings about life so I'll just leave you with one of my favorite Sylvia Plath quotes:

“Can you understand? Someone, somewhere, can you understand me a little, love me a little? For all my despair, for all my ideals, for all that - I love life. But it is hard, and I have so much - so very much to learn.”
